amazingly, just as i was seeing these shows, some of my bosses from new york had arrived in paris to see their shows and go to their buying appointments. and what’s more perfect than having your intern studying in paris when you need help?
the first buying appointment that i helped them with was stella mccartney - one of my favorite shows of the season. the prints, the dresses, the ease, and all those three-dimensional cutouts jumping off the model at you - what’s not to love? nothing. and i can assure you, it’s all just as fantastic in person.

oh stella, i’ve never wished for the parisian clouds to go away so badly.

are you SERIOUS?! i can hear the phone requests coming in now.
stella, the queen of easy, comfortable fashion has done it again. whether it’s sheer polka dot panels or 3-d mesh cutouts (and mixed prints), she really does seem to speak the language of pattern mixing. did i ever foresee myself fawning over a paisley-covered jumpsuit? no, but perhaps that’s part of what was so fantastic about this collection. yes, it was traditionally stella - bright colors, shift dresses, draping, all the standards made their appearances, but did anyone expect those dresses to finish the collection? i don’t think so.
