on fashion’s night out - the french way

fashion’s night out is always a nice of drinking, networking, and shopping (for some [maybe for all, depending on how many drinks we’ve had]). i was in berlin for fashion’s night out last year (where they don’t do anything), so i knew that my first fashion’s night out in 2 years had to be seriously fun.

i don’t want to make it dramatic, but it really wasn’t. fashion’s night out here isn’t anything like in new york - instead of free/open events in stores for everyone to wander into, here it’s more like a bunch of invitation-only cocktail parties in boutiques. and, of course me being my organized self, i didn’t have an invite (they came with the september issue of vogue). after running into some friends from home, we all realized that 1) we didn’t have invites, and 2) we didn’t want to wait in line for hours to get into a boutique to do more nothing (which is what some of my friends did do).

being my new york self, i decided to use my networking to my benefit and get us into nina ricci past the line. i have the benefit of interning for an important stylist who works with nina ricci, so i told the head of press that i’m her intern and they let us all in right away. it was nice being inside, listening to music, looking at absolutely breathtaking clothes, but it wasn’t nearly as fun, interactive, or special as new york fno is. that said, i did have fun!

à bientôt, fno!
